Privacy Policy
What Prism is
Prism is a self-hosted personal streaming platform, provided by PRETE9 LLC, an Ohio limited liability company (“we,” “us”). Your media library, playback history, and viewing activity live on the Prism server you connect to — hardware operated by the server's owner, not a central service we run. This policy covers the small set of data the Prism apps and our connection services handle to make that work.
Information we handle
- Account: the email address you sign up with and a password (stored as a salted hash) or sign-in tokens, used solely to authenticate you.
- Devices: an identifier for each device you pair (for example a TV or phone), plus a display name the server owner may assign, so access can be managed and revoked per device.
- Server connectivity: a paired Prism server periodically reports its own network address to our connection service so your apps can find it. This describes the server, not you.
- Playback activity: watch progress, resume positions, and basic playback telemetry are stored on the Prism server you connect to so features like Continue Watching work. They are visible to that server's owner and are not collected by us centrally.
What we don't do
- No third-party analytics, advertising SDKs, or tracking in the apps.
- No sale or sharing of personal information with third parties.
- No central copy of your media, library contents, or viewing history.
Third-party services
Prism servers fetch public artwork and metadata for library items from The Movie Database (TMDB). These lookups are made by the server about titles in its library and are not tied to your identity. Authentication and connection services are hosted on Cloudflare infrastructure.
Retention and deletion
Account data is kept while your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and its associated data at any time — during beta, contact us at the address below or use the account page at account.prismstreaming.com. Server-side playback history is controlled by the owner of the server you used and is removed when your access is revoked and your account rows are deleted.
